OpenAI Says It Has Started Training GPT-4 Successor

The beginning of new New AI model : OpenAI

OpenAI announced in a blog post on Tuesday that it has established a new safety and security board and begun training its next AI model. This update offers a rare glimpse into the much-anticipated successor to GPT-4, the engine behind its ChatGPT, as tech companies vie to develop more advanced AI tools.

OpenAI, a global leader in AI, announced that its upcoming model is expected to deliver "the next level of capabilities" in their pursuit of creating artificial general intelligence (AGI)—a machine with human-like cognitive abilities. This new model will power a range of AI products, including chatbots, digital assistants like Apple’s Siri, search engines, and image generators.
“While we are proud to build and release models that are industry-leading on both capabilities and safety, we welcome a robust debate at this important moment,” the company said.

OpenAI is pushing the boundaries of AI technology faster than its competitors, while addressing concerns from critics who argue that AI poses risks such as spreading disinformation, displacing jobs, and even threatening humanity. Although experts debate the timeline for achieving artificial general intelligence (AGI), companies like OpenAI, Google, Meta, and Microsoft have been steadily enhancing AI capabilities for over a decade, showcasing significant advancements every two to three years.

Released in March 2023, OpenAI’s GPT-4 powers chatbots and various software applications, enabling them to answer questions, write emails, generate term papers, and analyze data. The updated version, unveiled this month but not yet widely available, adds the ability to generate images and respond to queries and commands with a highly conversational voice.

Shortly after the introduction of this updated version—dubbed GPT-4o—actress Scarlett Johansson claimed that the AI used a voice strikingly similar to hers. She revealed that she had refused OpenAI CEO Sam Altman’s offer to license her voice for the product and has since hired a lawyer, demanding that OpenAI cease using the voice.

Technologies such as GPT-4o develop their capabilities by processing extensive digital data, encompassing sounds, images, videos, Wikipedia entries, books, and news articles. In December, The New York Times filed a lawsuit against OpenAI and Microsoft, alleging copyright infringement related to AI systems.

The digital "training" of AI models can span months or even years. Following the training phase, AI companies usually dedicate several additional months to testing and refining the technology before it is released for public use.

This could indicate that OpenAI’s next model might not be available for another nine months to a year or more.

As OpenAI develops its new model, the newly formed Safety and Security committee will focus on refining policies and procedures to ensure the technology’s safe deployment. This committee includes CEO Sam Altman and OpenAI board members Bret Taylor, Adam D’Angelo, and Nicole Seligman. The company anticipates that these new policies could be implemented by late summer or fall.

In a notable shift, OpenAI announced this month that Ilya Sutskever, a co-founder and a key figure in its safety initiatives, is departing the company. This has raised concerns about whether OpenAI is adequately addressing the potential dangers of AI.

Dr. Sutskever had previously joined three other board members in November to oust Mr. Altman, citing doubts about his ability to responsibly manage the company’s mission to create artificial general intelligence (AGI) for the benefit of humanity. However, following a lobbying effort by Mr. Altman’s supporters, he was reinstated five days later and has since reasserted his leadership over the company.  Company OpenAI confirmed the new model would be safe.

OpenAI’s safety Update

Safety is first priority: OpenAI

OpenAI is proud to build and release models that are industry-leading in both capabilities and safety.

More than a hundred million users and millions of developers rely on the work of OpenAI's safety teams. OpenAI views safety as an essential investment that must succeed across multiple time horizons, from aligning today’s models to the far more capable systems expected in the future. This work has always been a priority across OpenAI, and the investment in safety will only increase over time.

OpenAI believes in a balanced, scientific approach where safety measures are integrated into the development process from the outset. This ensures that AI systems are both innovative and reliable, delivering benefits to society.

At today’s AI Seoul Summit, OpenAI joins industry leaders, government officials, and members of civil society to discuss AI safety. While there is still more work to do, OpenAI is encouraged by the additional Frontier AI Safety Commitments that OpenAI and other companies agreed upon today. The Commitments call on companies to safely develop and deploy their frontier AI models while sharing information about their risk mitigation measures, aligning with steps OpenAI has already taken. These include a pledge to publish safety frameworks like the Preparedness Framework developed and adopted last year.

10 safety measurements taken by OpenAI

Empirical model red-teaming and testing before release:

OpenAI empirically evaluates model safety before release, both internally and externally, according to its Preparedness Framework and voluntary commitments. OpenAI will not release a new model if it crosses a “Medium” risk threshold from the Preparedness Framework, until sufficient safety interventions are implemented to bring the post-mitigation score back to “Medium.” More than 70 external experts helped assess risks associated with GPT-4 through external red teaming efforts, and these learnings were used to build evaluations based on weaknesses in earlier checkpoints to better understand later checkpoints.

Alignment and safety research:

OpenAI's models have become significantly safer over time. This can be attributed to building smarter models that typically make fewer factual errors and are less likely to output harmful content, even under adversarial conditions like jailbreaks. This improvement is also due to focused investment in practical alignment, safety systems, and post-training research. These efforts work to improve the quality of human-generated fine-tuning data and, in the future, the instructions the models are trained to follow. OpenAI is also conducting and publishing fundamental research aimed at dramatically improving system robustness to attacks like jailbreaks.

Monitoring for abuse:

As increasingly capable language models are deployed via the API and ChatGPT, OpenAI leverages a broad spectrum of tools, including dedicated moderation models and the use of its own models for monitoring safety risks and abuse. Critical findings have been shared along the way, including a joint disclosure with Microsoft of state actor abuse of the technology, so that others can better safeguard against similar risks. GPT-4 is also used for content policy development and content moderation decisions, enabling a faster feedback loop for policy refinement and reducing the exposure of abusive material to human moderators.

Systematic approach for safety:

OpenAI implements a range of safety measures at every stage of a model's life cycle, from pre-training to deployment. As development advances toward safer and more aligned model behavior, investment is made in pre-training data safety, system-level model behavior steering, a data flywheel for continued safety improvement, and robust monitoring infrastructure.

Protecting children:

A critical focus of OpenAI's safety work is protecting children. Strong default guardrails and safety measures have been built into ChatGPT and DALL-E to mitigate potential harms to children. In 2023, OpenAI partnered with Thorn’s Safer to detect, review, and report Child Sexual Abuse Material to the National Center for Missing and Exploited Children if users attempt to upload it to the image tools. OpenAI continues to collaborate with Thorn, the Tech Coalition, All Tech is Human, Commonsense Media, and the broader tech community to uphold the Safety by Design principles.

Election integrity:

OpenAI collaborates with governments and stakeholders to prevent abuse, ensure transparency on AI-generated content, and improve access to accurate voting information. To achieve this, OpenAI has introduced a tool for identifying images created by DALL-E 3, joined the steering committee of the Content Authenticity Initiative (C2PA), and incorporated C2PA metadata in DALL-E 3 to help people understand the source of media they find online. ChatGPT now directs users to official voting information sources in the U.S. and Europe. Additionally, OpenAI supports the bipartisan “Protect Elections from Deceptive AI Act” proposed in the U.S. Senate, which would ban misleading AI-generated content in political advertising.

Investment in impact assessment and policy analysis:

OpenAI's impact assessment efforts have been widely influential in research, industry norms, and policy, including early work on measuring the chemical, biological, radiological, and nuclear (CBRN) risks associated with AI systems, and research estimating the extent to which different occupations and industries might be impacted by language models. OpenAI also publishes pioneering work on how society can best manage associated risks, such as working with external experts to assess the implications of language models for influence operations.

Security and access control measures:

OpenAI prioritizes protecting customers, intellectual property, and data. AI models are deployed to the world as services, with access controlled via API to enable policy enforcement. Cybersecurity efforts include restricting access to training environments and high-value algorithmic secrets on a need-to-know basis, internal and external penetration testing, a bug bounty program, and more. OpenAI believes that protecting advanced AI systems will benefit from an evolution of infrastructure security and is exploring novel controls like confidential computing for GPUs and applications of AI to cyber defense. To empower cyber defense, OpenAI funds third-party security researchers through the Cybersecurity Grant Program.

Partnering with governments:

OpenAI partners with governments around the world to inform the development of effective and adaptable AI safety policies. This includes showing work and sharing learnings, collaborating to pilot government and other third-party assurance, and informing the public debate over new standards and laws.

Safety decision-making and Board oversight:

As part of the Preparedness Framework, OpenAI has an operational structure for safety decision-making. The cross-functional Safety Advisory Group reviews model capability reports and makes recommendations ahead of deployment. Company leadership makes the final decisions, with the Board of Directors exercising oversight over those decisions.

OpenAI's Revolutionary SearchGPT: Unveiling the Future of Search Engines"

A revolutionary way to search

Finding answers online can be time-consuming, often needing several attempts to get relevant results. We believe that by integrating real-time web information with our models' conversational abilities, the search process can become faster and more effortless.

OpenAI has introduced SearchGPT, an AI-driven search engine with real-time internet access, positioned as a competitor to Google. Led by Sam Altman, OpenAI announced that SearchGPT will initially be available as a limited-release prototype, with plans to integrate it into ChatGPT in the future. According to OpenAI’s blog post, “SearchGPT aims to enhance user engagement with publishers by prominently citing and linking to sources in search results. Responses will feature clear, in-line, named attributions and links, enabling users to easily identify information sources and explore additional results via a sidebar with source links.”

What does SearchGPT look like?

When you open the search engine, you'll see a large textbox prompting you with the question, “What are you looking for?” Unlike traditional search engines, OpenAI explained that SearchGPT doesn't simply return a list of links. Instead, it organizes the information, presenting it in a meaningful and coherent manner for the user.

OpenAI tests ChatGPT-powered search engine that could rival Google

How does SearchGPT work?

SearchGPT, driven by the GPT-4 model family, will initially be available to only 10,000 test users. According to OpenAI spokesperson Kayla Wood, the company is collaborating with third-party partners and utilizing direct content feeds to develop its search results.

Could SearchGPT challenge Google's dominance?

SearchGPT is just getting started, but Google has already accelerated its efforts to incorporate AI features into its search engines. OpenAI might face more direct competition from the startup Perplexity, which brands itself as an AI "answer" engine.

How to use ChatGPT for Keyword Research

Use ChatGPT for keywords research

Keywords research by chatgpt

Introduction:

Keyword research is essential for improving website visibility and increasing organic traffic. The emergence of AI language models like ChatGPT has introduced new ways to refine this process. Using ChatGPT for keyword research presents unique advantages, such as generating fresh ideas, understanding search intent, and analyzing competitors. In this blog post, we will explore how to effectively utilize ChatGPT for keyword research and maximize its potential.

Generating Keyword Ideas with ChatGPT:

To jumpstart your keyword research, ChatGPT can be an incredibly useful tool. Begin by providing ChatGPT with a specific topic or industry. Then, prompt it to generate keyword ideas related to that topic. By harnessing the capabilities of ChatGPT, you can discover a wealth of potential keywords to target. Let's explore the process of using ChatGPT for keyword research in more detail.

Inputting the Topic:

Start by entering the command "act as an SEO expert for the duration of this conversation." This ensures that all subsequent outputs are relevant to SEO, providing you with focused and valuable insights.
Start by inputting your chosen topic or industry into ChatGPT's prompt. For instance, if you run an online shoe store, you might enter "shoe trends" or "best running shoes." You can frame your request like this: "Please generate a list of relevant keywords related to shoe trends."

Refining and Evaluating Keywords:

To make the most of ChatGPT for keyword research, use detailed and precise prompts to refine and assess the keywords. A well-crafted prompt significantly simplifies the process. For example, let's take "shoe trends" and demonstrate how to refine and evaluate the keywords generated from the previous output.

Our Recommended Prompt

To refine and evaluate your keywords effectively, use the detailed prompt below:

Prompt:

Create a table with the keywords listed above.
Categorize the keywords into top categories, and enter the name of each super-category in the first column named ‘Keyword Cluster.’ In the second column, ‘Long-Tail Keyword,’ include a long-tail keyword for each super-category. The third column, ‘Search Intent,’ should specify the human search intent of the keyword (commercial, transactional, or informational). The fourth column, ‘Title,’ should suggest a catchy and SEO-friendly title for the post about the keyword. In the last column, ‘Meta Description,’ write a compelling meta description optimized for high CTR, with a maximum length of 155 characters. The meta description should clearly state why the content is helpful to the reader in a concise manner without being generalized. Please provide the response in table format only. The table should contain the following columns: Keyword Cluster, Long-Tail Keyword, Search Intent, Title, and Meta Description.

The keywords generated by ChatGPT can vary in relevance and competitiveness. To refine your list, consider the following factors:

1. Search Volume: Evaluate the search volume of each keyword. Higher search volume indicates more people are searching for that keyword, potentially driving more traffic to your website.

2. Relevance: Assess the relevance of each keyword to your website, content, or products. Select keywords that directly relate to your offerings and align with your target audience's search intent.

3.Competition: Consider the level of competition for each keyword. Highly competitive keywords are more difficult to rank for, especially if your website is new or lacks strong authority. Look for keywords with moderate or low competition that still have sufficient search volume.

To properly evaluate these parameters, it is recommended to use an external keyword research tool like Ahrefs or Google Keyword Planner.
Now that you have refined your keyword list, let's explore the next steps.

"Refine Your Keyword Strategy

Analyze keyword variations using a trifecta of metrics: search volume, relevance, and competition. Prioritize phrases that speak directly to your audience's needs, with a sweet spot of moderate search volume and manageable competition. This precision targeting will elevate your online presence and engagement."

"Keyword Mapping Mastery: Aligning Content with Intent"

Transform your keyword list into a powerful content strategy by mapping keywords to relevant website pages or articles. This intentional approach:

- Ensures keyword relevance and alignment
- Prevents keyword overlap and cannibalization
- Amplifies organic traffic through targeted content

Discover the secrets of effective keyword mapping and content creation, expertly crafted to elevate your online presence and attract your target audience.

Mastering Your Keyword Game for SEO Success

Pinpoint Your Focus:

Start by meticulously examining your keyword list. Each page or article demands a unique *primary keyword* - the cornerstone of your content. This keyword should be a powerful magnet, drawing in your target audience and perfectly mirroring their search intent.

Don't stop there. Bolster your primary keyword with *secondary keywords*. These supporting acts add depth and context, enhancing your content's relevance. Think of them as the ensemble cast that elevates your main star.

Create Content with Purpose:

Once your keywords are in place, it's time to craft exceptional content. Your words should be a beacon, guiding and informing your audience. Every piece should be a valuable asset, addressing their needs and desires.

To optimize your content, strategically weave your primary keyword into essential elements like page titles, headings, meta tags, and the body text. Your secondary keywords should complement this effort, enriching the overall content.

Avoid the Keyword Trap:

Beware of *keyword cannibalization*. It's like having multiple actors vying for the same spotlight - a recipe for confusion. Ensure each page has its own unique primary keyword. If you find overlapping keywords, consolidate or revamp your content to prevent this SEO pitfall.

By meticulously selecting keywords and creating optimized, audience-centric content, you'll boost your website's visibility and attract a steady stream of organic traffic.

Remember:SEO is an ongoing journey. Keep refining your keyword strategy and content to stay ahead in the digital landscape.

How to access Chinese LLM chatbots across the world

Accessible Chinese LLM Chatbots

Since the summer of 2023, hundreds of Chinese large language models have become available to the public, thanks to the government allowing AI companies to open their models for general use. For users in the West, navigating these models can be challenging due to language barriers and registration requirements, such as needing a valid Chinese phone number. However, many of these chatbots support English and are surprisingly accessible. Whether you’re curious about their performance or want to conduct serious experiments for work, there are numerous ways to explore Chinese LLM-powered chatbots.

If your phone has Chinese number

If you have a Chinese phone number, accessing these models is a breeze. In China, a domestic phone number often serves as a proxy for identity verification. This means you can easily access almost any online service, including AI chatbots, by visiting the model's website and using your phone number to register an account.
In our tests, we discovered that while some large language models are accessible to users outside China, a few major ones—including those developed by Huawei, the cybersecurity firm 360, and the Chinese Academy of Sciences—require a Chinese phone number for access. Unfortunately, obtaining a local phone number outside China can be nearly impossible. Fortunately, there are alternative methods to explore these models.

Access without a Chinese Number

You can access without a Chinese number
A few Chinese AI platforms provide direct access to their chatbots for users outside China. Simply sign up, enter your phone number, and verify with the code sent via text message.

For instance, Doubao, an AI developed by ByteDance, can generate text and images, search the internet, and summarize uploaded documents. ChatGLM, a multimodal tool by the emerging Chinese AI unicorn Zhipu, offers similar features and is also accessible with non-Chinese phone numbers.

Additionally, DeepSeek, a relatively new AI company, stands out for its affordability. It offers free access for casual users, while business users pay only $0.14 per million tokens, compared to OpenAI’s GPT-4 Turbo at $10 per million tokens. You can test its text and coding chatbots on their website by registering with an email address.

Hugging Face

Hugging Face is one of the largest global AI communities today, functioning like a GitHub for AI. Many open-source large language models (LLMs) have shared their code and applications on Hugging Face’s platform.

Chinese companies have also joined this trend, making their code available for AI developers. Some even offer demos on the site, allowing non-technical users to easily test the models without any coding. Since Hugging Face doesn’t require a Chinese phone number for registration, it provides a convenient way to explore many Chinese models.

Another Chinese tech giant, Tencent, has also contributed to Hugging Face by uploading its AI model, Hunyuan-DiT, which generates images from text prompts. However, other models based on the Hunyuan foundation are not available on the site.

ModelScope: A Gateway to Chinese AI Models

In November 2022, Alibaba launched ModelScope, a platform resembling a domestic version of Hugging Face. It serves as a hub for the Chinese AI community to gather, access open-source models, and engage in discussions. Notably, ModelScope allows users to register with non-Chinese phone numbers, providing another effective workaround for accessing Chinese LLMs. Companies like Baichuan, a promising AI startup backed by Alibaba, have made their models available on ModelScope for anyone to test.
One of the most useful features on ModelScope is the "LLM Arena" application, created by Open Compass, an AI lab in Shanghai that evaluates different models. As the name suggests, the arena lets users compare two models side by side by having them respond to the same prompt. This application integrates 11 Chinese models, making it easy for non-Chinese users to access several AI tools that are otherwise restricted.

5 ChatGPT Prompts To Find Profitable Startup Ideas You Can Start Today

Find your profitable startup Plan

ChatGPT can generate business ideas quickly, making it a valuable tool for any entrepreneur looking to start up or pivot. Don’t waste this resource. While ChatGPT won't start your business for you or replace your genuine interest, passion, and hard work, it can reveal pathways you might not have considered on your own.

Use these prompts to generate innovative ideas grounded in solid reasoning. Simply copy, paste, and edit the content within the square brackets in ChatGPT, and keep the same chat window open to maintain context.

Find profitable startups Ideas

Find Audience problem

Defining your startup's target audience is the first crucial step. Maybe you already serve this audience with another service, are part of this audience yourself, or know many people with specific commonalities. By defining your audience, you can identify a pain point your startup can address. No pain, no profit. Use ChatGPT to help identify both the audience and their pain points.
“I’m starting a business and want to clearly define my target audience
and their pain points. Acting as a business coach, ask me questions one by one about the type of people I am familiar with or already have in my network. Start by asking me to describe them, then proceed to ask about the pains they experience that I am aware of. After seven questions, provide a description of this audience and list their top 20 problems. My task is to select the top three problems, which will form the basis for the next steps in generating startup ideas. Do not generate any startup ideas until I give the go-ahead.”

Set Your Parameters

You’ve identified the problems you want to solve for a specific group of people. Now, ensure your business doesn't create issues for you. The next step is to define your parameters to find ideas that align with your goals. Before launching Coachvox, I established seven rules for my next venture, such as it being location-independent, focused on personal development, beneficial to the planet, and having the potential to become a $100 million business. Establish your own criteria before generating ideas.
Now we will define the parameters that our business ideas should meet. Acting as a business analyst, ask me questions about the type of startup I want to create, covering aspects like its potential, location, delivery, and industry. After 7 questions, generate a set of 7 parameters (also known as rules or boundaries) that our business ideas must adhere to. Do not generate any ideas until I give the go-ahead; only establish the rules.

Solve the Problem

Now, let's combine the previous steps. Find solutions for your target audience's top three problems within the boundaries you’ve defined. Ask ChatGPT to run the experiment and generate potential solutions. As you read through the list, imagine yourself running that business, announcing it to your network, and working on it every day. Pay attention to how each idea makes you feel and visualize the daily experience of managing that business.

Filter Bad Ideas

In theory, you have six good ideas. Keep these in mind for later. But first, let’s dive into a thought experiment. ChatGPT can generate bizarre and outlandish ideas, including ones that are outright terrible. By exploring these bad ideas, you can get your brain working in a different way, potentially sparking some great ideas of your own. Plus, recognizing these terrible concepts will help you avoid similar pitfalls in your ventures.

Thought Experiment:

Your task is to combine:

1. The target audience description
2. The top three problems identified
3. The parameters outlined

Use these elements to create six absolutely terrible startup ideas. These ideas should be so bad that they have no chance of succeeding. Have some fun with this challenge and present each awful idea with a value proposition aimed at the target audience, followed by a brief description of the startup and its function.

This exercise will not only entertain but also inspire you to think creatively and critically about what makes a startup idea truly viable.

Link Ideas to Revenue

Now that you have six good ideas and six bad ones, it’s time to dive into the details of your favorite idea and figure out how to turn it into a lucrative venture. Identify which idea you like the most and explain why, then brainstorm how it can generate significant revenue. Consider aspects such as capacity, pricing, and crafting compelling sales copy to start generating interest immediately. You don’t need to build anything right now—focus on gathering expressions of interest from potential buyers.

Revenue Exploration:

From the ideas you suggested, let’s explore these ones further: [specify which you want to expand]. For each one, suggest the offer. Your task is to:

1. Create a detailed description of what is for sale.
2. Identify the absolute perfect customer.
3. Explain the reason someone should buy.
4. Describe how it’s delivered in terms of time or other resources.
5. Estimate the potential revenue in the first year.

This exercise will help you pre-sell the startup before it’s built and provide you with the motivation to begin.

OpenAI Has Trained AI Models To Produce Text That Human Can Easily Understand

Now Human can understand ChatGPT's Text Easily

Tech giants like Google and OpenAI, the creators of ChatGPT, are spearheading advancements in chatbot technology. Leveraging AI, machine learning, and advanced data analytics, they are refining language models to enhance response quality. In a notable development, OpenAI achieved a breakthrough by training robust language models to generate text that weaker models can easily verify. This innovative approach not only simplifies verification for weaker models but also makes the text more comprehensible for human evaluation. Backed by Microsoft, OpenAI's findings mark a significant step forward in making AI-generated text more accessible and reliable.
"Ensuring that language models generate clear and understandable text is essential for their usefulness, particularly for complex tasks such as solving math problems," OpenAI stated in a recent blog post. The company noted that, although their AI models often provide factually correct answers, these responses can be difficult to comprehend.
"When we asked human evaluators to quickly assess these highly optimized solutions, they made nearly twice as many errors compared to evaluating less optimized ones," OpenAI added. "This underscores the importance of not only correctness but also clarity and ease of verification in AI-generated text."

"To enhance legibility, we optimize the chain-of-thought processes for grade-school math problems so that they can be verified by weaker models, and we investigate whether this makes them easier for humans to understand," OpenAI explained. "This training method is inspired by the Prover-Verifier Game, a game-theoretic framework designed to encourage learning agents to solve decision problems in a verifiable manner."

OpenAI utilized a training approach where a strong model generates solutions that a much weaker model, the verifier, can easily verify, using large and small models from the GPT-4 family.

OpenAI new reasoning code ' Strawberry'

OpenAI's New Strawberry Project

OpenAI is continuously developing new models, with various teams experimenting with different strategies to reach the ultimate goal of artificial general intelligence (AGI). Some of these approaches are proving to be more successful than others.

Reuters reports a new project, code-named "Strawberry," which some on X speculate could be the next iteration of the infamous "reasoning mode" Q* leaked last year. Project Strawberry appears to be a new model or system with enhanced reasoning capabilities, including the ability to go online to gather information to solve particularly complex problems.

What do we know about Project Strawberry?

According to the source, Strawberry is a closely guarded secret within OpenAI. Although it might eventually integrate with ChatGPT, its primary purpose is to conduct "deep research" beyond handling basic user queries.

One of its capabilities includes the ability to autonomously and reliably navigate the internet while planning responses, without user prompts.

ChatGPT currently has the ability to search the web for specific details, but this feature is not always reliable. Often, users must explicitly instruct it to seek live data rather than relying solely on its training data.

OpenAI has not directly commented on the reports regarding Strawberry. However, the organization informed Reuters that it is standard practice to continuously research and develop a variety of new AI capabilities.

This ongoing exploration into advanced AI features, like those speculated for Project Strawberry, underscores OpenAI's commitment to pushing the boundaries of what artificial intelligence can achieve.

When you see project Strawberry

Project Strawberry is a research initiative by OpenAI, and it remains uncertain if it will ever be released as a standalone product. Nonetheless, the insights gained from this project are likely to inform future AI models and product updates developed by OpenAI.

I anticipate that any advancements in reasoning will be integrated into the training for GPT-5. Project Strawberry might emerge as a groundbreaking model, similar to Omni, which revolutionized the field unexpectedly. Unlike GPT-4, GPT-4o (Omni) was inherently multimodal, both in input and output.

Strawberry could represent a new class of models, designed as native reasoners from the outset, eliminating the need for fine-tuning or additional training. Although little is known about it, OpenAI hinted to Reuters that achieving human-like understanding in AI is a crucial objective.

The expanding influence of artificial intelligence on education

It's not just students seeking shortcuts with AI. Teachers are increasingly relying on AI tools for grading papers, providing feedback, and creating lesson plans, as recent reports reveal.

Opportunities and Concerns :

Recent research at Reading University has highlighted a significant issue: examiners failed to differentiate between answer scripts written by actual students and those generated by GPT-4, one of the most advanced AI programs, 94% of the time. In many cases, the AI even outperformed human students, except in abstract reasoning. This revelation raises intriguing and concerning questions about the future relationship between humans, technology, and pedagogy.

For a long time, it has been argued that neither short- nor long-form questions, which can be easily memorized, are adequate for testing students’ knowledge. The advent of AI has rendered these formats even less reliable. This brings into question whether a return to in-person exams—replaced by take-home tests in many areas since the pandemic—might better evaluate students’ practical skills and foster deeper engagement with their subjects.

However, exams are just one part of the education system now under AI's influence. Research papers, case studies, projects, and even homework can now be completed by AI programs based on the GPT-4 model, which can manage everything from content creation to citations and bibliographies. Traditional plagiarism checks fail against such AI-generated content, and educators are struggling to distinguish real work from fake.

Moreover, it's not just students turning to AI for shortcuts. Reports show that teachers are increasingly relying on AI tools to grade papers, provide feedback, develop lesson plans, and create assignments.

This growing reliance on AI in education is concerning for several reasons. The most obvious is the threat to independent thinking. AI’s model, based on reproducing existing knowledge, could stifle new knowledge creation. Additionally, AI is prone to biases, and students risk incorporating these prejudices into their work. Access is another issue: AI can exacerbate educational inequalities by giving some students an unfair advantage while limiting opportunities for underprivileged communities.

AI’s expanding role in education, like all evolving technology, is a double-edged sword. The challenge for educators and students lies in making the right choices to navigate this new landscape effectively.
